This time last week we recommended Wexford plus five points against Tipperary at 11/10 - due to tragic events in Kilkenny that bet will now be voided and your stakes returned. However for all the reasons that we stated last week, this is still a good bet and thus we will once again recommend it as our starting point. With Wexford hurling having taken such a hammering in the Leinster Final and the team now being led by hurling icon Damien Fitzhenry, it's reasonable to assume we'll get a much more fiery display from the purple and gold this Saturday, and even if they don't find enough to win, staying within five is very possible. For our second leg of this week's bet, we're going to look to Omagh later that evening, and recommend Donegal to beat Monaghan at 8/13. Donegal were the team everyone wanted to be with at the start of the championship - they had won the NFL, they were armed with several serious attacking threats and they began the year by beating Armagh. The wheels came off spectacularly against Tyrone, but they weren't the first team to be demolished by this Red Hand unit and they won't be the last. They were very vulnerable going to Carrick-on-Shannon to play Leitrim, but the win in Páirc Seán Mac Diarmida turned their season around and set them up with forward momentum again. They comfortably disposed of a dogged Westmeath side in Mullingar, and while Monaghan are a step up from either of those two opponents, it is very difficult recover from losing a provincial final when that provincial final has been your focus all year. Monaghan got the easy side of the draw in Ulster and were wholly geared towards winning their first provincial title in 19 years. Donegal always had bigger fish to fry, and while Monaghan will make it tricky, we think they might be served up with tartare sauce by Saturday night. Next up we're going to Sunday, and we're going to commit heresy in the eyes of neutrals everywhere. While the whole hurling world might want a Waterford All Ireland win, they don't come easy, and their quarter final with Cork is just the type of game Waterford have lost in recent years. There are those who are saying that Cork are due a win - Waterford have beaten them three times this year already, and that to make it four is just a bridge too far. That is nonsense. The reason we are betting on Waterford is that when these sides hurled in the Munster semi final, Waterford scored 5-15 on a Cork back line missing goalie, full back and wing back, all three former or current All Stars. Cork however scored 3-18 on the Waterford back line, with no qualifying absentees. Which feat is more likely to be repeated on Sunday? Ladbrokes' even money Cork is the way to bet. That treble pays almost 6/1, and hopefully will leave you a bit left over to have a nibble on Ladbrokes market for the All Ireland 60x30 Handball singles. Eoin Kennedy is the clear favourite at 4/5 in his quest to retain his crown, but handball legend Micheal "Duxie" Walsh is back in training having competed at Masters Level in 2006, and results so far suggest the old maestro still has plenty of his old ability. 4/1 about the Kilkenny superstar is worth a small wager for those who like to keep an eye on a forgotten but no less engaging GAA sport.
