Cork centre forward Niall McCarthy has been ruled out of next Sunday's All-Ireland hurling quarter-final against Waterford. The Carrigtwohill clubman has failed to recover in time from the broken metatarsal he suffered when the sides last met in the Munster SHC semi-final in June. McCarthy aside, Cork will be at full strength for the eagerly-awaited Croke Park rematch. Midfielder Tom Kenny has recovered from the hamstring injury that forced him to sit out the qualifier matches, while corners backs Shane O'Neill and Brian Murphy have also recovered from knocks.
