Wexford ease through

Wexford 2-22 Laois 1-14 Wexford set up a meeting with old rivals Kilkenny in the Walsh Cup final after the Model County recorded a comfortable eleven-point win over Laois at Rathdowney. The home side started brightly and raced into a three-point lead, but it was a false hope for Laois as Wexford soon settled and began reeling off the scores. However, it took an excellent goal by Pat Doran to put some daylight between the sides as Wexford lead by 1-10 to 0-9 at the half time interval. Laois got a good start in the second half also when James Young fired a free to the back of the net, nonetheless Michael and Rory Jacob set about tearing the Laois defence to shreds and they notched 0-13 points between them and when Doran scored his second of the afternoon, it was game over.
