January 22, 2007
A former inter-county player escaped with his life after stepping outside of his mobile home to catch the result of a match on his car radio just moments before a tornado demolished his abode.
Sean 'Hooper' Farrell, who featured at inter-county level some 50 years ago, had been trying to tune in his radio to get the result of the Dublin versus Wicklow O'Byrne Cup match.
"I decided to go out to the jeep because its radio was already tuned in and just seconds after I stepped out of the mobile home the tornado struck," explained the Edenderry resident.
