Little does a lot to save Fermanagh

Fermanagh's Mark Little
Two players were dismissed - one on each side - as Fermanagh were held to a 1-7 to 0-10 draw by St. Mary's in a tempestuous McKenna Cup clash at Tempo. Both sides played most of the second half with just 14 men after Shane McDermott (Fermanagh) and St. Mary's star Leon Meenan got their marching orders after a melee. Fermanagh had earlier bagged the only goal of the game in the 7th minute after a fine fisted goal by midfielder Fergal O'Reilly. However the Saints hit back with midfielder James Lavery to the fore plus the equally forceful John Kelly. The Saint Mary's attack saw plenty of the ball and Paul Keenan profited mostly with three first half points a fine return from him. Conor McGourty also did well, chipping in with two frees. Other points from Meenan and Gareth O'Neill had the hosts under pressure and by half-time an upset looked on the cards as Fermanagh led by 0-7 to 1-3 at the interval. Fermanagh looked to get into their stride on the restart and their first point from any of their forwards came in the 54th minute when Johnny McGurn found the target to add to a Shane McDermott point. Ryan Keenan put St. Mary's back in front and it was tit for tat to the finish before Mark Little saved Fermanagh's bacon with a cool finish at the death.
