The Fitframe in use
A special introductory offer on the Fitframe - the revolutionary training product used by a host of county teams, including the Armagh footballers - has been extended to the end of December.
Scientifically designed and safety tested in conjunction with Enterprise Ireland, the Fitframe allows intensive team training in a small area. Produced by Teamhop, the Fitframe is now available for just €1,950 plus VAT until the end of December. For more details call 1890 438 348 or go to www.teamhop.com.
"The Fitframe offers great value because the amount of players that can use it in one small area, it adds to the competitiveness of players, I think they work hard side by side." - Joe Kernan, Armagh All-Ireland winning football manager
Further to Teamhop's introduction of their revolutionary new training product the Fitframe at the beginning of the summer, legendary player and international strength and conditioning training guru Ashley Jones has given his seal of approval.
Jones, who was over in Ireland in September giving training clinics all round the country, comments: "There come a point in time where a piece of equipment that is so simple in concept comes into existence that it has the possibility of revolutionizing training. The Fitframe is just his piece of equipment.
"The ability to train multiple athletes on a range of bodyweight exercises allows the fitness coach to develop not only strength endurance but concomitantly anaerobic endurance. Athletics of all levels in all sports will benefit from using their own bodyweight as the source of resistance, using dips, chins and push ups the entire body can be worked, whilst combing this with shuttle runs or on field intervals you can effectively train a squad of 30 players in less than 45 minutes.
"Bodyweight exercises have been underrated in the past but I have used them for a number of years now and have had some amazing results, one athlete of international level did only body weight exercises, chins, hand stand push ups, push ups and horizontal chins, and reported weight gain and strength gains far above what he had achieved doing conventional weight training over the previous 3 years."
Paul Copeland, Teamhop sales executive, is delighted that someone of Jones stature has realised the potential of the Fitframe. "Like any new product it takes time for people to understand it fully but Ashley's recognition combined with teams such as the Canterbury Crusaders, winners of the Super 14 series who include 17 All Blacks, using the Fitframe for their Super 14 preparation has allowed us to gain real momentum," said Copeland.
Another area that Teamhop are looking towards is schools. Recently they did a promotional DVD with Belvedere College in Dublin, pictured here. Belvedere was the first school to purchase the schools version of the Fitframe and have been delighted with it so far, according to their head of PE, Philip Conway. A second one is on order which will be located on the roof of the school on the centre of town. Copeland believes that it is important that someone does something to combat the growing problem of obesity in Ireland at school level.
"Obesity now affects 16% of women and 20% of men (North South Food Consumption Survey) while a further 33% of women and 46% of men are overweight. Obesity has almost doubled in Ireland over the past ten years and Teamhop are offering an incredibly cost effective solution to address the problem. At half the price of a decent treadmill, the government now has the opportunity to allow every second school pupil to get enough exercise to keep them in shape."
