Cooper confident form will return

By his own admission, Colm Cooper isn't having the best of years but he is keeping his fingers crossed that he will return to top form for Sunday's All-Ireland final against Mayo. 'Gooch' demolished the Westerners in the corresponding game two years ago, but has suffered a massive dip in form this summer. However, he remains hopeful that his best form will return. "My performances haven't been great and are probably lower than the standards that I have set for myself over the last couple of years," he admitted. "I was kicking five or six points a game which is something that I don't think you can do every day, but the important thing is to hang in there and it will come back to you. "It's probably the first spell like this that I have had with Kerry, but I have had plenty of bad spells with the club. "You just learn to deal with it and do your best for the team but Jack (O'Connor) never put me under any pressure or anything like that. "Even training with the boys, I don't think there was panic at any stage. Players lose form at various times and unfortunately it was this year for me. "It's tough going the whole time to try and hold form. Maybe I was going a bit too well early in the year for it to hold, but you don't think like that when you go out on the field, you just want to do your best and it worked in the league but when it turned to the championship it wasn't working. "The big thing is learning how to deal with it and trying to get your form back."
