O'Shaughnessy fit, Sherlock returns

July 13, 2005

Stephen O'Shaughnessy
Stephen O'Shaughnessy has made a remarkable recovery from a shoulder injury to retain his place on the Dublin team for Sunday's Leinster football final against Laois at Croke Park. The impressive newcomer from Lucan Sarsfields was expected to miss the rest of the season after he was stretchered off with the injury in the semi-final win over Wexford. But he has defied the odds to be included at left corner back on a Dublin team that shows one change from the semi-final. As expected, Jason Sherlock has been recalled to the attack in place of Mark Vaughan after coming off the bench to score a late goal against Wexford. Darren Magee, who only returned to the Dublin squad a fortnight ago after a seven-month break in Australia, is named among the substitutes as are Dessie Farrell and David Henry who also recently returned to the set-up after long absences. Dublin (SF v Laois): S Cluxton; P Griffin, P Christie, S O'Shaughnessy; P Casey, B Cahill, C Goggins; C Whelan, S Ryan; C Moran, A Brogan, B Cullen; J Sherlock, C Keaney, T Quinn.
