Kilmeena made history at Croke Park by becoming the first Mayo club to get their hands on the All-Ireland club junior football championship silverware.

John Reilly, who lined out with the west Mayo side when they were beaten in the 2003 final, guided Kilmeena to glory after edging a fancied Gneeveguilla by 0-11 to 1-6 in an enthralling extra-time epic this afternoon.

Leading 0-3 to 0-4 at the break, Padraig Doyle's injury-time goal for the Kerry champions forced the extra 20 minutes after it finished 0-8 to 1-5 in normal-time.

But Kilmeena showed admirable character when picking themselves up off the floor and going again to outscore their opponents 0-3 to 0-1 in extra-time.

The sides still couldn't be separated at half-time in extra-time, 0-9 to 1-6, before points from Joey Smyth and Darragh Keaveny on the restart won it for Reilly's side.
