Birr and St. Rynagh's will do battle for the Sean Robbins Cup on October 23 following their respective semi-final wins over Kinnitty and Kilcormac/Killoughey at O'Connor Park yesterday.
Eoghan Cahill notched 1-11 as Birr accounted for Kinnitty on a 1-19 to 0-16 scoreline. From a Kinnitty perspective, the damage was done in the first half when they trailed by 0-6 to 1-11 at the break after playing with the wind. Minor star Cahill grabbed 1-8 in the opening period to put the four-time All-Ireland champions on the road to victory.
St. Rynagh's qualified for their fourth final in five years thanks to a late comeback win over Kilcormac/Killoughey. Martin Fogarty's K/K looked set to prevail when they scored eight unanswered points to lead by 0-12 to 0-7 entering the final quarter, but a late 1-2 from substitute Stephen Quirke handed the Banagher club - who haven't won a senior title since 1993 - a dramatic victory.
