Carlow GAA star Daniel St Ledger discusses his daily routine with John O'Brien

Morning

What time do you get up at? 7:30 a.m.

How long do you sleep for? I usually try get 8 hours

What do you eat for breakfast? Porridge and seeds

Do you train or exercise in the mornings? Not during the weekdays

What are you working at? I'm a teacher in Donabate CC

Do you have a long commute to work? 20 minutes

Is it hard to balance life between work and being an intercounty footballer? Fortunately teaching suits the GAA lifestyle

 

Mid-morning/afternoon

Do you go to the gym in the afternoon? Usually after school

How many times a week do you go to the gym? Three times

What do you do in a typical gym session? Depends on the time of the season. At the minute it's a lot of explosive work

Where do you work out? Swords

What would you eat for your lunch? Usually a meat and veg of some form. Throw in the odd wrap some days

What does your diet consist of? Do you have to be very careful with what you eat? Yeah. Usually try keep it as structured as possible. Depending on the training load I'll try stay light as possible as it wouldn't take much for me to throw on a few kg

Do you drink much water? How much? 3 or 4 litres a day

 

Afternoon/Evening

What time do you get home from work at? Around 3:45 p.m.

What do you usually have for dinner? I have a nice butchers next door to me so whatever is on special there. Or else eat out if not training. Lots of good options up here.

What time do you have County training at? 7:30 p.m.

Where do you train? Fenagh outside Carlow town

Is there anything in particular you would focus on in training yourself? Usually speed development.

How often do you train a week? Three times with Carlow

How long would a typical training session last? Depends but usually 80 minutes.

Do you find it hard to motivate yourself for training sometimes? Winter can be tough but at the moment it's not tough at all with this weather

Would you often treat yourself with a takeaway or a few pints? Or does this totally have to be cut out of your diet? Usually go out somewhere once a week. There are some nice options in Dublin away from the run of the mill stuff. Important to have a little break from the structure.

On a typical day what time would you go to bed at? 10:30 p.m. or whenever I get back up from Carlow.
