Mayo captain Brian Hunt admits that walking up the steps of the Hogan Stand to collect the Nicky Rackard Cup was a sensational feeling.
Hunt succeeded where many of his footballing counterparts failed as he collected an All-Ireland title following their win over Armagh.
The game was in the melting pot right up until the final whistle and Hunt was just glad to hear the referee blow for full-time.
"It's sensational," Hunt told the Western People. "That's what you dream of when you are young, walking up the steps of the Hogan Stand.
"I didn't think I'd be the first Ballyhaunis man to do it. I thought Keith might get there before me, but that's just the way it's happened.
"It's serious I don't know how to put it into words. This team has shown serious character all year."
