A Westmeath club has been reformed just a couple of months after disbanding.
The Loughnavalley GAA club are based a few miles outside Mullingar and are a rural club that have struggled with numbers for some time.
To their credit they have managed to compete in the Westmeath junior football championship since been formed in 1977, despite having no underage teams.
However, emigration and a lack of youth coming through finally took its toll this year as the club were forced to pull out of all competitions.
It looked to be the end of the road for Loughnavalley, but community spirit has saw them regroup and a new committee was elected and the reformed club will play in the Westmeath JFC this weekend.
Newly elected club secretary Sinead Kinsella told the Westmeath Topic that they were looking forward to an exciting new era.
"We are very positive about the future," said Sinead. "Playing numbers will always be a big challenge, but we are going to learn from the past and look to the future.
"Success can be measured in many ways and for us it's giving people the opportunity to participate in Gaelic football."
