Mickey Conroy has brought the curtain down on his Mayo football career.

The Davitts clubman made his senior inter-county debut in 2004 and went on to play in a number of All-Ireland finals. Often used as an impact sub, he suffered a serious shoulder injury on the eve of last year's drawn All-Ireland semi-final against Dublin and has struggled to regain form and fitness since then. He was the most high-profile player to be released from Stephen Rochford's squad this week and confirmed via his twitter account last night that his days in a Mayo jersey are over.
