Kildare footballer Peter Kelly believes that counties in the lower divisions do not get the same recognition as those in the top flight.

Speaking ahead of Saturday's NFL Division Three final against Clare, Kelly stated to the Leinster Leader that counties from the lower two divisions are certainly in the shadows of the first and second divisions.

"It is almost like Division Three and Four are forgotten about. We went to Clonmel, a tiny club ground, but we had our support, but the GAA are not looking after the teams in the lower divisions and that needs to be looked at," said Kelly.

"You can't treat players different because they are in lower divisions; every player, regardless of what county, is training the same; putting in the same hours; the same commitment but then again it's tough for a guy from Tipperary to play an important league game in a place like Clonmel, knowing full well if the same player was a hurler, he'd be in Semple Stadium, it needs to be looked at."
