Summerhill College were crowned Connacht Post Primary Senior A Football champions when coming out on top in today's all-Sligo decider at Markievcz Park.

Summerhill shaded a close encounter with St Attracta's Community School on a scoreline of 1-12 to 0-13.

'Man-of-the-Match' Cathal Herron's early goal proved to be the difference between the sides at the final whistle.

The winners enjoyed a slender 1-6 to 0-8 advantage at the halfway stage and they held on the claim their first title since 1985.

Meanwhile, earlier in the day, Holy Rosary Mountbellew got the better of Rice College Westport in the B final on a scoreline of 1-5 to 0-7.
