The GAA stands to make an estimated €16 million from All-Ireland football and hurling championship gate receipts in August and September.
The figure doesn't include replays, which have been common in the latter stages of recent championship campaigns. The last three All-Ireland hurling finals have all gone to replays, while last year's All-Ireland football semi-final between Kerry and Mayo also needed a second day. The All-Ireland football final hasn't produced a replay since 2000 when Kerry and Galway finished level.
Attendances have remained high, despite the alarmingly high number of one-sided games in this year's football championship.
According to the Irish Independent, total gate receipts from the All-Ireland championships, which doesn't include the provincial championships, are on course to equal last year's €23 million figure.
This weekend's All-Ireland football quarter-final double-bill involving Tyrone and Monaghan and Donegal and Mayo on Saturday, and the All-Ireland hurling semi-final between Kilkenny and Waterford on Sunday, are both expected to attract attendances in the region of 50,000.
