Flashback to 1999 as Cork manager Jimmy Barry Murphy and team captain Mark Landers pose with the Liam McCarthy Cup

All-Ireland winning Cork captain Mark Landers has joined Jimmy Barry Murphy's backroom team as the new hurling coach.

Cork confirmed the news on their website this evening: "At the County Board meeting of November 18th, Mark Landers (Killeagh) was confirmed as the new coach of the Cork Senior Hurling team, replacing Kieran Kingston, who stepped down recently."

An All-Ireland winning captain in 1999, Landers has been working with Cork underage teams in recent years and coached the minors in the season gone by.

Damien Irwin (Killeagh) has been appointed manager of the Cork U21 hurling team.
