St James to guide Wexford

Wexford's Matthew O'Hanlon
The Wexford senior hurlers and footballers will be guided by St James this year.

The reason for this is that both senior county teams will be captained by players from the St James GAA club in Ramsgrange.

Wexford footballers are being led by Graeme Molloy this year, while their hurling counterparts are captained by Matthew O'Hanlon.

The achievement of the club is even more remarkable in that they are a small rural outfit that ply their trade in the junior hurling ranks and the intermediate football championship.

O'Hanlon admitted to the Wexford People that it was a huge honour for him and the club to see two clubmen lead out the county teams.

"I was privileged when Liam asked me this year to captain the team. It's a huge honour for me, my club, my family, who are all really proud of this achievement. We also have Graeme from the club as captain of the county senior football team," said O'Hanlon.

"That's a huge honour for a small club like St James' to provide the captain of both senior sides. We are a small club, play junior hurling and intermediate football."
