Roscommon under-21 hero Diarmuid Murtagh revealed that he had a novel way of easing the pressure when taking his match-winning free.
Deep into injury time in the All-Ireland under-21 football championship semi final against Cork, the sides were level, but Roscommon earned a free in with virtually the last kick of the game.
The free from under the stand in O'Moore Park about 35 metres from goal was handed to corner forward Murtagh and despite being only out of minor last year, the youngster showed great composure to send the ball over the bar and edge his county into the All-Ireland final.
The Roscommon Herald questioned Murtagh on his thoughts when taking the free as he belied his years not to show any nerves.
"I suppose if you dwell too much on it that's when you miss them. I just had to concentrate as if the game was 0-0 and try and put it over and thankfully it did," said Murtagh.
"For a lot of us it's a relief because we've been knocking at the door for the last few years at minor and under-21 and we never seemed to be able to get by that semi-final stage."
