Galway match-winner Danny Cummins has strong ties with Down.

The Galway attacker, who scored the only goal of the game as the Tribesmen defeated the Mourne County last weekend, is a grandson of Down GAA legend Patsy O'Hagan, who won All-Ireland medals in 1960 and '61.

"I was chatting to relations during the week and they were saying 'look, if it doesn't go our way we'd like to see you do well' and it's nice to get that goal," the Claregalway clubman says in The Irish News.

"I have a lot of relations up there around Banbridge and Newry and all playing for Clinbduff. We'll be up there next week at a comortas and I'm sure the result will be mentioned.

"I was delighted to get that touch and all but the most important thing was that Galway moved on and got the two points."
