The Tyrone Football Supporters' Group, Club Tyrone, raised a staggering £444,000 this year.
The figure is up by 25 per cent on last year, making it one of the most successful groups of its kind in the GAA. As part of their continuing drive to raise funds, Club Tyrone launched a new initiative this year to recruit 100 new members across the county.
Club Tyrone has in excess of 450 members who have contributed close to £2 million to the £6.7 million Centre of Excellence which was officially opened in Garvaghey last September. Inside Garvaghey's huge open plan foyer is a floor-to-roof glass octagon inscribed with the names of 292 patrons, who have each given £5,000 (£1.36 million in total) to the project.
The state-of-the-art facility boasts five high quality grass pitches, a full-sized 3G surface, a multi-purpose training area, an auditorium, fully-equipped gyms, physio and meeting rooms, administrative areas, catering facilities and a purpose-built changing room area with ice baths.
Membership of Club Tyrone is £500 per year which supports the development of the GAA at county level.
