Tyrone GAA rocked by tragedy

Tyrone GAA has been stunned by the death of young Aghaloo star Kevin O'Gorman.

An outstanding player in Aghaloo's junior league and championship campaigns this year, Kevin was expected to pick up the Player of the Year award at the club's presentation night this Friday. But the GAA community in the area was instead plunged into grief as word spread of his unexpected passing on Tuesday night.

News of Kevin's death has shocked the close-knit local community and the Aghaloo O'Neill's club is doing all in its power to ensure that its members receive the support they need at this difficult time.

Paying tribute to 'Kevy' in Gaelic Life, club chairman John O'Neill said: "As a player, he was very much the future of our club. He was so well thought of.

"We have so many players who are around that age, they all looked up to him and were very close.

"Gary, his younger brother, was captain of our championship-winning team earlier this year. Kevy got to the latter stages of Tyrone U21 trials last year and was trialling this year as well.

"I'd have fully expected him to have been there or thereabouts with Tyrone U21s this year. He wasn't the biggest but had the heart of a lion."
