St Brigid's captain Ian Kilbride is relieved to have finally put his injury woes behind him.

Kilbride was introduced as a late substitute during the facile win over St Mary's in the Connacht club SFC semi final, having been on crutches for five weeks only a couple of months ago.

Now, the team captain is in line for a starting place in the provincial decider against Castlebar Mitchels on Sunday afternoon.

Kilbride is adamant that they will face a tough test against the Mayo champions this weekend, and stressed that he is pleased to be back in contention.

"I was delighted to contribute in some way. As captain of the team this year, I've been delighted to contribute in any way I can and I'm very happy now to be back in the fold," Kilbride told the Roscommon Herald.

"A lot of people were under the illusion that Castlebar, having not won a county title in so long, would have been happy winning the final. Having seen what they were like against Corofin, and we played them in a challenge a while back, they are quality."
