Clare SFC final: historic first for Cratloe

November 16, 2013

Colm Collins. INPHO
Cratloe 0-10
Doonbeg 0-7

A new name has been inscribed on the Jack Daly Cup following Cratloe's victory over Doonbeg at Cusack Park today.

Podge Collins was one of eight Clare All-Ireland hurling winners to feature for the east Clare men against the 18-time champions from the other side of the county. Collins and Brian Dillon traded early points and it was tit for tat until just before half-time when two Cathal McInerney scores helped the winners to a double-scores lead at the break, 0-6 to 0-3.

When Collins made it 0-10 to 0-5 in the 48th minute, Cratloe looked to be home and hosed, but they had to endure some anxious moments in the closing stages before finally securing victory.

Cratloe will have to hold off on the celebrations as they will be in action again tomorrow against Waterford champions Ballinacourty in the Munster club SFC semi-final.
