McKenna not ruling out Sky Sports deal

Peter McKenna says the GAA would consider a bid from Sky Sports when the TV rights to GAA championship games come up for discussion again.

The GAA's commercial and stadium director of Croke Park, who was named as Marketer of the Year this week, said of Today FM's The Last Word programme last evening: "I wouldn't block anything out.

"Obviously a paywall would cause some issues, but we've been with a paywall when we've been with Setanta. So the leagues are behind a paywall for the Setanta coverage.

"We have an open agenda on this one. What we're charged with, is to get the best deal for the Association. That's not necessarily the most money but it's certainly where we'll get the best TV coverage, exposure and marketing and push for our games and benefit long-term."

The GAA is currently looking to strike up a deal with one of the major US TV networks in a bid to increase Gaelic Games coverage across America.
