Sligo GAA was stunned by the death of former county minor footballer Conor Brady in Las Vegas over the weekend.
The 24-year-old was originally from Skreen and played football for the local St Patrick's club as well as representing the Yeats County at both minor and U21 levels.
He is believed to have been living in Washington DC for the last two years, where he worked as a sales executive for an Irish dairy company, and was on a weekend trip with friends to Las Vegas, where he was discovered dead in the early hours of Saturday morning.
St Patrick's club secretary Gerard Clarke said: "The club is in a state of shock by what has happened. All we can do now is be there for Conor's family. He was a leader of the team and played with us up until he left for America. He was a talented player and a lovely guy.
"Conor was doing very well for himself too in the States and was expected home for Christmas to see his family. It is just very sad news."
Sligo County Board has also paid tribute to the former county star: "An Coiste Chontae Shligigh extends its sympathy to Conor's parents, Peter and Maureen, his brother Donal, sister Shaunagh and grandparents Pat and Sally Brady."
