John Brudair is set to be appointed Limerick's new football manager in the coming days.

It was confirmed at Tuesday night's county board meeting that Brudair's name will be put forward for ratification, bringing an end to the Treaty County's long search for a successor to Maurice Horan who resigned in mid-summer.

Brudair is highly regarded in Limerick football circles, having led Drom-Broadford to back-to-back county SFC titles in 2008 and '09, and a Munster club SFC crown in 2008. He strengthened his credentials by leading Rhebogue outfit St. Patrick's to a surprise Limerick SFC semi-final appearance against Monaleen on the weekend before last. He has also enjoyed success with the Charleville hurlers in Cork in recent years.

Brudair is expected to include Drom-Broadford club-mate Tommy Stack in his new management set-up. Stack was a mainstay of the Limerick defence for many years and managed the Limerick ladies footballers a couple of years ago.
