Down legend Mickey Linden
Former Down star Mickey Linden insists he isn't thinking of retirement yet.

The 50-year-old two-time All-Ireland winner came off the bench to score a point for Mayobridge's third team in their Down Reserve Championship final defeat to Kilcoo at Pairc Esler last Friday night and made it clear afterwards that he won't be hanging up his boots any time soon.

When asked by the Newry Democrat about the retirement rumours, he replied: "So I read in the papers - no, I'll probably still don the boots again, no I'm not retiring. I'll see how the legs hold out, so you never know. I'm not guaranteeing anything but I'm not saying anything now."

Linden showed during the campaign that he still has a lot to offer. He scored four points after coming on against Darragh Cross and also got on the scoresheet in Mayobridge's semi-final win over Rostrevor.

One of the leading forwards of the 1990s, Linden won All-Ireland medals with the Mourne County in 1991 and '94. He has also won All Star and Texaco Footballer of the Year accolades as well as seven Down SFC medals with his beloved Maybridge. In 2009, he added to his All-Ireland medal haul by winning gold in the 100 metres and long jump events at the Irish Over 45 athletics championships in Tullamore.
