Breen hangs up his gloves

Fermanagh keeper Chris Breen
Fermanagh goalkeeper Chris Breen has announced his inter-county retirement.
The Enniskillen Gaels clubman played for the Ernesiders for eight years, having made his championship debut against Down in 2005. Prior to that, he had been on the books of Irish League soccer outfit Portadown and had represented Northern Ireland at schoolboys' level.
After succeeding Niall Tinney - who had been the Young Player of the Year in 2004 - between the Fermanagh posts, Breen faced constant competition from Ronan Gallagher for the number one jersey. Later, James McGrath and Chris Snow were his main rivals.
In this year's championship, Fermanagh manager Peter Canavan opted to go with Snow and Breen has now decided to hang up his gloves. He will continue to line out for Enniskillen, however, who qualified for a Fermanagh IFC semi-final against Irvinestown last weekend.
A career in management could also beckon as a result of his involvement with the Enniskillen junior team over the past two years.
