Hurling top scorers: Ryan looks untouchable

August 19, 2013

Put up that score
Clare's Colin Ryan has an All-Ireland final to look forward to and barring a miracle, he will also be crowned the top scoring hurler of championship 2013.

Ryan's tally of 0-11 in the All-Ireland semi-final win over Limerick sees him move to the head of the table with 0-51, a point clear of Kilkenny's Eoin Larkin who has 0-50 to his name.

The nearest challenger to Ryan still left in the championship is Cork's Pat Horgan, who on 1-30 is 18 points behind the Clare man.

Waterford's Maurice Shanahan is level with Antrim's Neil McManus, with 1-13, as the top scorer from play. Two Clare men are hot on their heels with Podge Collins and Tony Kelly both hitting 0-15 from play so far.

Carlow's Craig Doyle, who scored 3-2 when introduced as a substitute against London in the Leinster SHC, is joined by Clare's Shane O'Donnell and Dublin's Paul Ryan as the leading goal scorer with three goals each.

The highest individual scoring feat in the championship so far is shared by Shanahan (0-13 against Offaly) and Paul Ryan (2-7 v Galway).

The highest average score per game is held by Galway's Joe Canning with 9.33 points per game.
