Dennis Glennon was pleased to captain An Garda Siochana to a world title.

Glennon captained the Garda 'Sevens' side that defeated defending champions Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Services by 4-21 to 2-10 in yesterday's World Police and Fire Games gaelic football final at Queen's University.

"Because we have players from all parts of the country, we didn't have much time to prepare as a group, bar a challenge game against Mullingar, but I thought we gelled together pretty well as a unit," the Westmeath attacker says in The Irish News.

"I don't think the scoreline flatters us at all as we finished the game very strongly although there was only a point in it at half time.

"It has been a very enjoyable competition and it has really whetted our appetites to defend the title in two years' time, assuming we can secure the funding to take part." Tweet
