Joe Brolly has said this evening that he won't weasel out of what he said about Tyrone on Saturday evening and it needed to be said.
Brolly's tirade against Mickey Harte's team and Sean Cavanagh in particular has gone viral with over 210,000 views of the clip on Youtube.
Speaking to Matt Cooper on Today FM's the Last Word this evening Brolly stood fully behind his actions: "I was very angry and I can't take back what I said, I won't weasel out of it now."
When asked has he crossed a line by questioning Sean Cavanagh as a man over his cynical fouling, Brolly explained what he meant: "I was talking about Sean Cavanagh on a football field but you can't separate the man on the football field from what he is off the pitch.
"Sean Cavanagh is a 30 year old accountant and he has said he doesn't like doing it but the rules allow it.
"That type of Nuremberg defence doesn't cut it and I'd say it to his face as well.
"I told him to be a man. What the hell are you doing? Play the game properly and see what happens. Anyone could do what he is doing."
The RTE pundit went on to explain that this is an endemic problem that needs to be removed from Gaelic games.
"This is bigger than Tyrone and Sean Cavanagh. Other teams do it but they (Tyrone) systematically do it. I know they have been systematically coaching in Tyrone at minor level how to pull players down, how to slow games down."
