Former Kerry great Maurice Fitzgerald
Kingdom legend Maurice Fitzgerald has given his seal of approval to Eamonn Fitzmaurice and the current Kerry set-up.
Speaking ahead of Sunday's Munster SFC final against Cork in Killarney, the former Footballer of the Year says he likes the way his former team-mate is going about his business.
"I'd know Eamonn Fitzmaurice very well and I think he's a very calm and steady influence," the 43 year old told The Irish Daily Star.
"While he's had a rough ride for a number of months, everything has settled down very well.
"They're training well, the word from everybody is that they're very happy with what they're doing.
"They're in good shape and I think they're well placed to meet the challenge of Cork."
The secondary school teacher believes the current Kerry team has the talent to win a 37th All-Ireland SFC crown.
"There must be five, six teams there and we're in the pack.
"I wouldn't be looking beyond the Munster final. That's a game we'd like to win.
"Thereafter we'll be challenging for the next stage, but a provincial title is important.
"There's a ferocious hunger in these lads. There's a great pride in those Kerry lads in the jersey."
