Jayo hangs up his boots

Dublin's Jason Sherlock
Former Dublin football star Jason Sherlock has announced his retirement from the game.
The 37-year-old, who achieved cult hero status in the capital in 1995 when he helped the Dubs to their first All-Ireland title in 12 years, has decided to hang up his boots following his club St. Oliver Plunkett's/Eoghan Ruadh's surprise Dublin SFC first round defeat to Ballinteer St. John's. He retired from the inter-county scene in 2010.
"I've decided to call it a day," he is quoted as saying in the Irish Independent.
"I've played my last game of football. It's not a decision I've taken lightly and I know becoming an 'ex-footballer' won't be easy. I've found the last few years when I haven't been playing for Dublin pretty challenging."
Also a talented basketball and soccer player in his younger days, Jayo's honours list includes one All-Ireland SFC, seven Leinster SFC and three Dublin SFC medals won in the colours of Na Fianna.
