Leinster JFC: holders leave it late
May 30, 2013

Cavan's Chris Conroy gets the better of Louth's Patrick Sheelan in the Leinster Junior Football Championship game in St Brigid's Park Dundalk.
Cavan 1-10
Louth 1-9
Champions Cavan staged a late comeback to edge out Louth in last night's Leinster JFC quarter-final at Dundalk.
The Breffni boys scored four unanswered points per Barry Reilly (two), Paul Gorham and Ross Sheridan in the final quarter to turn a two-point deficit into a two-point lead. Jamie Califf replied with a late free to leave the minimum in it, but the visitors held on for the win.
Cavan got off to a flier when Chris Conroy netted after just 30 seconds, and they went on to lead by 1-3 to 0-4 at the break. But the Wee County fought back after the restart. A Cathal Bellew goal and a Sean Hand point propelled them into a 1-8 to 1-6 lead with 20 minutes remaining, but Cavan finished strongly.
