Down defender Declan Rooney's transfer from Burren to Dublin outfit St Sylvester's has been given the green light.

Gaelic Life reports that Rooney - who has made five appearances for the Mourne County this season - will play his club football in the capital this year.

Meanwhile, new Burren coach Paddy Carr reckons there is more to come from star Mourne County forward Donal O'Hare.

O'Hare continued his rich scoring streak when registering 4-3 against county champions Kilcoo last Friday night.

"Players like Donal have very high standards and he's keeping the score board ticking over for club and county," Carr said to Gaelic Life.

"I suppose the most interesting thing and exciting thing is that there's more to come from the likes of Donal, they're always trying to improve."

The Meath resident - who guided Kilmacud Crokes to All-Ireland club glory in 2009 - took over the Burren in January.

"Well I have to say that I have been more than enthused by the attitude and the reaction of the senior team.

"I've also been hugely impressed by the manner the club treat it's underage teams, they've got a real template for success there.

"You can't microwave talent and they are doing right things right to ensure good players come through."
