Following on from the landmark announcement of Supermac's dual sponsorship of Galway football and hurling, the family restaurant chain have officially unveiled the new Galway jersey which will be worn by both teams during the upcoming season.
Supermac's, now in its 23rd year sponsoring Galway hurling, extends its support to football within the county; the first time an organisation has sponsored both teams in the county. The new dual maroon and white strip was officially unveiled at 6.00pm this evening in Supermac's, Headford Road, at a special press conference held to mark the occasion. Made from a breathable koolite fabric that moves moisture away from the body, the jersey features the Galway embroidered badge crest on the left chest, as well as the GAA, O'Neill's and official sponsors Supermac's logo to the front.
Galway football and hurling teams across all age groups, from under age through to minor, U21 and Senior, will wear the updated maroon and white strip. Supermac's is intrinsically linked with GAA in Galway and has always assisted and facilitated the development of young players. To date, Supermac's has invested over €2 million in Galway Hurling.
Pat McDonagh, Managing Director of Supermac's, says: "We're delighted to be extending our long-time sponsorship and support of Galway Hurling, to Football throughout the county. It is with great pride that we reveal the official Galway GAA jersey bearing the county crest along with the Supermac's logo to the front. For me the jersey further solidifies Supermac's unwavering support for GAA within the county, something which has always been of the utmost importance to both myself and my wife Una."
McDonagh continues: "The hurler's had a fantastic year last year and a great result against Kilkenny in their last league fixture. We have similar hopes for Galway Football for the coming season who gave a display yesterday which augers well for 2013. The new and improved jersey will ensure that the teams look and feel their best while representing Galway over the coming weeks and months."
