Durack ready for action

Donegal hurlers begin their division 3A league campaign with a home tie against Monaghan on Sunday afternoon.

According to manager Ray Durack, the squad has put in a huge effort so far this year in a bid to make up for last year's shortcomings.

Speaking to the Donegal Democrat he said: "We have been training away since before Christmas doing gym work and strength and conditioning and we also have played a number of challenge matches in recent weeks.

"This time last year I was only appointed four weeks before the start of the league and as a consequence we had very little work done.

"We are in much better shape this year and are really looking forward to Sunday's game and the start of the league. The aim is to finish much higher up the table this year and while winning the division might be beyond us we are aiming for second or third place and be in good shape heading into the championship."
