A Kilkenny 'development squad' shaded a close Walsh Cup encounter at O'Louglin Gaels' grounds on Saturday.
Under 21 boss Richie Mulrooney took charge of the Cats who lined out minus the services of any of their All-Ireland team.
Galway star Niall Burke sent over four points as the student established a 0-10 to 0-8 half-time lead.
Burke added another five in the second half and the college side led for most of the contest until points from John Power and Mark Bergin in the closing two minutes booked Kilkenny's semi-final ticket.
