Armagh TV's plans in doubt

Armagh's Aaron Kernan
TV channel Setanta has reacted with surprise to Armagh's plans to stream their home NFL games live on the county website.

Setanta have purchased the rights to televise 12 football games and three hurling games on their two dedicated sports channels, Setanta Sports 1 and Setanta Ireland.

The final decision over whether or not Armagh TV will be allowed stream the Orchard County's home games rests with the GAA but Setanta's Brian Quinn explained to The Irish Daily Star: "From our perspective as the broadcaster who has bought the rights to those live games, I'm kind of a little bit surprised to hear it.

"So, we'd certainly be keen to look into that a wee bit further.

"I would imagine that streaming of games, when they are broadcast on TV, is probably something that's not actually permitted under various rights contracts.

"From our perspective we're happy enough to plough ahead with our own 15 live games on TV."
