Gary Cox in the Roscommon colours
Salthill-Knocnacarra midfielder Gary Cox will be very familiar with St Brigid's this weekend.
The Roscommon native has soldiered alongside and against most of the Brigid's players for many years at county level.
Having plied his trade with the St Faithleach's clubs for many, many years, Cox transferred to the Galway outfit this year as he lived in the city.
In his first year, he has helped the club to the county title and they are now just one game away from the Connacht final, but standing in their way are familiar foes to Cox.
"They had a lot of success at underage level," Cox explained to the Roscommon Herald. "I think they won around eight out of nine titles at U-21 level. There was always a good scatter of Brigid's lads on any Roscommon under-21 or minor squads I was involved with. So a lot of them had that experience of playing at a higher level.
"That would've pushed the lads that were already there and created competition for places. They came close to winning the All-Ireland against Crossmaglen a couple of years ago and they probably let the Garrycastle game slip last year. They want that All-Ireland medal and their good enough."
