Donegal SFC: Glenswilly dethroned

October 15, 2012

Donegal's Rory Kavanagh
Former county star Adrian Sweeney upstaged All-Ireland winning captain Michael Murphy as 14-man Dungloe ended Glenswilly's reign as Donegal SFC holders over the weekend.

As well as scoring four points, Sweeney tracked back to help out his defence after Martin Redmond was sent off on a straight red card midway through to the second half. Glenswilly were leading by 0-8 to 0-4 at that stage, but were undone by a brace of Conor Greene goals in the 47th and 58th minutes as Dungloe secured victory on a 2-7 to 0-8 scoreline.

Meanwhile, Rory Kavanagh scored 1-1 as St. Eunan's eased to a 2-15 to 0-7 victory over a disappointing Killybegs side. Dermot 'Brick' Molloy netted just before half-time as 2010 champions Naomh Conaill accounted for Bundoran by 1-10 to 0-5, while Michael Doherty's last-gasp free earned Four Masters a 0-9 each draw with St. Michael's.

The replay has been pencilled in for Thursday night.
