Club success at last for McDonnell

Armagh's Steven McDonnell
Stevie McDonnell has a club championship medal to go with the many honours he won during his glittering inter-county career following Killeavy's victory in the Armagh IFC final last weekend.

The former Ireland International Rules captain, who announced his inter-county retirement last April, scored 0-8 (0-5 from places balls) in Killeavy's 0-13 to 0-8 win over St. Peter's at the Morgan Athletic Grounds last Saturday evening. It was McDonnell's first time to win a championship with his beloved club and it's likely that he will treasure this honour as much as the All-Ireland medal he won with the Orchard County a decade ago.

Midfielder Michael Murphy and corner forwards Ciaran O'Hanlon and Caolan Trainor were also to the fore for Killeavy who ended a 26-year wait for IFC success.
