Violent scenes overshadowed champions Dr Crokes' 1-13 to 0-8 victory over Austin Stacks in yesterday's Kerry SFC quarter-final at Tralee.

A first half melee was sparked by a heavy challenge on Kerry captain Colm Cooper. When order was finally restored, the referee issued a solitary yellow card. However, former Kerry midfielder William Kirby did see red in the 25th minute when he received a second yellow.

Despite going down to 14 men, Stacks held a slender 0-6 to 0-5 lead at the break, but the wind-assisted champions took control after the restart with a 35th minute Cooper goal and two quick points from Jamie Doolan and Brian Looney easing them into a 1-9 to 0-6 lead.

Dingle caused an upset when they ousted 2007 champions Feale Rangers from the Dr Moynihan Cup race on a 2-12 to 1-13 scoreline. A brace of first half goals from Billy O'Connor helped Dingle to a 2-8 to 0-7 lead, and they withstood a late fightback by Feale to reach the last four.

Laune Rangers booked their semi-final place thanks to a 3-13 to 2-4 victory over Rathmore, who surprisingly started without former county star Tom O'Sullivan. The last semi-final spot went to St. Kieran's who saw off Kenmare by 1-21 to 2-12.

But the big talking point afterwards was an amazing walk-off by Kenmare's two-time All-Ireland medallist Paul O'Connor following a dispute with the referee 10 minutes from the end.
