GAA GPA All Stars sponsored by Opel
New York will be the destination for this year's All Stars football tour.
Gaelic Players' Association chief executive Dessie Farrell confirmed the news at the Opel GAA/GPA Player of the Month awards ceremony in Croke Park yesterday. Last year the All Star hurlers visited San Francisco, but there were fears that this year's football trip wouldn't go ahead after Vodafone ended their sponsorship.
"The tour will be reviewed on a year-by-year basis but, to be fair, Opel have been a great sponsor. I think they are in it for the long haul," Farrell said.
Meanwhile, Farrell insisted that the GPA don't have a major issue with the make-up of the new Football Review Committee, which doesn't include any current players.
"As long as there is genuine consultation, that is the most important thing. That the opinions and views of the players are reflected in the body of work that needs to be done," he continued.
"We have been in contact with Eugene McGee (committee chairman) on that and there's a commitment to engage with the GPA and players, which is important."
