Big screen to debut in Connacht at Hyde Park

May 17, 2012
In a first for a Connacht GAA Fixture, a big screen will be on display in Hyde Park to add to the atmosphere in the venue.

On Sunday afternoon at half time in both the Connacht JFC and SFC games, expert pitch side analysis will be carried live on the big screen, as well as displaying the winning photos from the Galway & Roscommon schools that participated in the Connacht GAA 'Jersey Day'.

The onset of this year's Connacht GAA Football Championships will be accompanied by an expanded programme of match day entertainment from this weekend's quarter final fixture.

In addition to the use of bands and Scór acts around our games, a number of other initiatives have been organised with the intention of involving match day supporters with the event.

Go Games exhibition games involving players from the two competing counties will be played at half time of the Senior Championship fixture. Face painters will also be situated throughout the stadium on the day.

This heightened level of match day ancillary activity is being organised to complement the game and to enhance the match day experience of our patrons.

Connacht GAA President, Frank Burke, urged supporters to engage with the additional entertainment that is being organised for this year's Connacht GAA Championships and lauded GAA members and patrons for their ongoing support.

He said: "A special effort has been made to try and create an occasion around our big games for the Connacht GAA Championships.

"Our games are hugely attractive - something that is evidenced in the large numbers who continue to attend them - and while they will always be the centre piece of our big days, there is an onus on us in these times to engage directly with our supporters away from the game itself and we believe that with the recent price reductions we announced that we continue to offer real value for money especially in light of the extra entertainment that is now in place at our games."
