Wexford hurling legend Nicky Rackard has been immortalised by a new statue at Selskar Square.
The statue - which depicts the Model County star of 15 seasons (1940-56) in action, just about to strike for goal - was unveiled in Wexford town on Bank Holiday Monday.
Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, Nicky's son Bobby said: "As an image of him, himself, it represents the hurling great that he was, the leader, the goalscorer, the sportsman."
Wexford Borough Council commissioned renowned British sculptor Mark Richards to create the statue of the late Wexford star, at a cost of €120,000.
