Dublin call-up for Rock

Dean Rock has been drafted into the Dublin senior football panel on the back of his outstanding Sigerson Cup form.

The Ballymun Kickhams clubman, whose father Barney was one of the stars of Dublin's 1983 All-Ireland success, scored 0-23 (0-15 from frees) for DCU during their triumphant Sigerson Cup campaign, and has been rewarded with a place in Pat Gilroy's squad. He had a brief spell on the senior panel in 2009 before going on to win an All-Ireland medal with the U21s the following year.

Rock's call-up brings to five the number of 2012 DCU Sigerson Cup winners on the Dublin panel at present - the others being Philly McMahon, James McCarthy, Eoghan O'Gara and Johnny Cooper, who scored a point on his senior debut in the rout of Armagh last Sunday.
