Mayo manager James Horan is expecting a tough encounter in Portlaoise on Saturday night.

The Connacht side travel to O'Moore Park where they will face division 1 newcomers Laois in the opening round of the Allianz National Football league.

Horan will be eager for his side to hit the ground running, but he is certainly taking nothing for granted against an ever-improving Laois side.

"It's going to be an absolute battle up in Laois, no doubt about that," Horan stated to the Mayo News. "They got promoted to Division 1 last year and they're really going to be gunning for us.

"But we'll just prepare as well as we can. We had a very good session on Sunday morning, so we're looking forward to it." Tweet
